A challenging series of photographs taken throughout Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Europe, in which the filmmakers were asked to express themselves, the Japanese people and the country of Japan using the Hinomaru (Japanese flag). People of all ages, nationalities, occupations and ideological beliefs expressed their own Japan with their whole bodies. Ishikawa, who had only ever photographed Okinawans and related people, started this series because he wanted to photograph Japanese people for the first time. This is a much-talked-about work that has developed a new, unique style that can be seen as a collaboration with the subject, and contains 100 carefully selected photographs from the 184 that he has taken since 1993.
