Soldiers seeking respite outside the fence and Filipinos dancing in the entertainment district overlooking the fence. While some residents cry out against the fence, others live robustly with it as part of their daily lives. The 121 works (14 in colour) vividly capture the lives and sexuality of the people who sometimes interact and sometimes confront each other on an island divided by a cold barbed wire fence, and who cannot be photographed by anyone else. The same series won the 2011 Sagamihara Photography Award.
